Workshop on the use of corpora in linguistics.
Mark Davies is a professor of Corpus Linguistics in the Department of Linguistics and English Language at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, USA. He has a long standing as an excellent researcher in corpus linguistics and a developer of corpora. He has developed historical and contemporary corpora of English, Spanish, Portugese etc., mostly freely available online, and designed corpus interfaces and search systems that also include thesaurus functions and semantically based queries. He has recently received a large grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to create a 300 million word corpus of historical American English.
